Extra Gum’s “Chew It Before You Do It” slogan and campaign had some viewers up in arms about the sexual innuendo while others embraced it as a funny and clever quip. I chose to expand on this innuendo to spread messages about the importance of safer-sex practices and the growing epidemic of STIs in the US among people aged 16-35. Extra would team up with Durex to produce a limited series of mint-flavored condoms that would be packaged Extra’s signature packet along with a sleeve of their gum. These packets would be supplied where the audience is, on university and college campuses by Extra spokespersons. Spreading the message further Extra can set up specialty tents to give away other deliverables and take-aways with Extra/Durex branding.
